Fermentas
FermenTasmania is transforming the fermentation industry with a new world-class Fermentation Hub in the Tamar Valley, part of Launceston’s UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy. Backed by $7.5 million in federal funding, the 1800m² facility will support food, beverage, nutraceutical, and green energy innovation. It will serve as a centre for R&D, training, commercial production, and agritourism. The project aims to leverage Tasmania’s strengths in wine, cheese, cider, gin, and whisky to create 650 jobs by 2030. Expressions of interest are now open for businesses to join the initiative.
